Richard McAuliffe : Writing Monkey

 So the important bits are all linked at the top of the page. There's "Projects" which lists the stuff I've done and am working on. "Project Artwork" showing some finished pages created from my scripts. A diary where I'll put updates on my attempts to make a go of this writing lark and then the usual links and contact type stuff.

A quick bit about me first though....

About 3 years ago a guy I knew on a comic nerd forum sent me a PM asking if I'd fancy writing a couple of quick 3 panel strips for him to draw.  Had never thought about doing that before but came up with a couple of ideas, one of which is the strip below

I kinda got the bug after that and started making up little funny one pagers using cut and paste pictures of superhero toys. Also whenever any amateur artists would post up on the boards asking for scripts to practice with I'd throw something at them.

Since then its all kind of snowballed. What was supposed to be a one off 3 page funny strip has become a webcomic and will be a 100+ page graphic novel collection from Markosia. I've contributed to a few anthologies and am currently writing two original graphic novels for Insomnia publications and am sending regular submissions to the guys at 2000AD until I eventually wear them down and get a story in the comic I grew up reading.

So this is a site to show off what I've done, pimp the stuff I have in the works and to generally try and keep the bit of momentum I have at the moment from grinding to a halt.

So a quick comic nerd resume.....

My name is Richard McAuliffe, a comic book writer living in Wales. I started out doing mainly comedic work but have now drifted into hardcore horror and have a very nasty book coming out early 2010 called Damaged Goods. I am also working on a dark fantasy book called Snow, all of which I'll preview on this site.

I'm always on the look out for new projects to get involved in and basically just f***ing love writing and getting to work with artists who make me look good and like I know what I'm doing.
